Under the patronage of the President of the University of Technology, Dr. Ahmed Muhammad Al-Ghaban, the Control and Systems Engineering Department held the eleventh comprehensive scientific exhibition for robots and manufactured devices. The exhibition was held on Monday, April 22, 2024, by the department’s students and professors, with a large number of participations and productions, as it exceeded eighty manufactured projects simulating important applications for the labor market and the needs of society. The President of the University opened the exhibition, which was supervised by Prof. Dr. Azad Raheem, the Head of the Control and Systems Engineering Department, and was attended by a number of department and center directors and university employees, in addition to external parties from security and service institutions interested in this scientific activity. The department adopts such an activity at the end of every academic year to display what machines and robots have been manufactured within the department. Manufacturing the devices starts at the beginning of the academic year and is completed near its end. This year’s exhibition was distinguished by the participation of students from the first and second stages. It was also characterized by the participation of double the numbers of previous years. It carries various scientific ideas and applications, some of which are graduation projects for undergraduate students and others for postgraduate students and research projects of the professors of the department. All projects are being completed in the Automation and Robotics Research Unit in the department. We congratulate the efforts of all those in charge of the exhibition, which aims to enhance the practical and scientific aspect of our students and researchers in a way that serves the country. Participating projects are subject to evaluation by a specialized scientific committee for the purpose of honoring the winners with the highest evaluations by the department.

 The Control and Systems Engineering Department held the fourth seminar for the doctoral thesis of the student (Jinan Jabbar Abd Al-Kareem), entitled (An Adaptive Intelligent H-Infinty Controller Design for Highly Nonlinear Dynamical System) in Hall No. 9 on Tuesday, April 16, 2024. The seminar was attended by the committee members, including Prof. Dr. Mohammed Yousif Hassan, Prof. Dr. Shibly Ahmed Hameed, Prof. Dr. Safanah Mudheher Raafat, and the head of the Control Engineering Branch, Prof. Dr. Omar Farouq Lutfy. The student provided a brief overview included work progress, the obstacles facing the work, and completion rates. 

 On 21-22/4/2024, over two days, the Control and Systems Engineering Department held the second group of seminars in the department’s discussion hall (Hall No. (9)) as part of the department’s scientific activities and to achieve scientific benefit by discussing postgraduate students’ projects in the research stage (the master’s stage). These seminars were held for successful students in the first round in the specializations of (Computers Engineering and Mechatronics Engineering) to examine what has been accomplished in the graduate students’ research projects, diagnose weaknesses and strengths, provide advice and guidance, and develop the method of presenting and defending the research project. The discussion sessions were attended by the Assistant Head of the Department for Scientific Affairs and Postgraduate Studies, the branch heads, and a group of the department’s academic staff members. 

 The Control and Systems Engineering Department, in cooperation with the Information Technology Center, held a scientific visit to the Computer and Network Maintenance Division in the aforementioned center delivered by (Asst. Lect. Muthana Ali Kazem ). For the second week in a row, this visit was organized on Thursday 4/4/024 for two hours under the supervision of a number of teaching staff members with the presence of a number of the third-stage students from the Mechatronics and Robotics Engineering Department. The visit included a practical explanation of the internal university network, which relies on the FTTX optical transceiver systems. This network connects all the university’s scientific departments, centers, administrative departments and their formations, the central switchboard at the university, and other services provided by this network .

The Control and Systems Engineering Department organized a scientific visit, in cooperation with the Information Technology Center, to the Networks Department at the aforementioned center on Thursday, 28/3/2024. The center was introduced by Asst. Lect. Muthanna Ali Kazem, who gave an introductory lecture that lasted two hours. The visit covered an explanation of the optical fibers used to connect networks, including the optical cable and its wide applications in various fields. In addition, the visit covered a practical explanation of how to connect various devices, such as routers and servers, to the network. The visit was conducted under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Farah Falih Hassan, Asst. Lect. Nibras Zayer Saleh, Asst. Lect. Maha Youssef Hassan, and Asst. Lect. Marwa Fadel Jassim, and was attended by third-year students from the Mechatronics Engineering Department.
